AKL AIRPORT DOMESTIC TERMINAL A&A WORKS, NEW ZEALAND

 Year: 2004

Client: Auckland International Airport Logistic (AIAL)

Tasks: Transport master planning, Traffic Microsimulation, Traffic Improvement Schemes

AIAL appointed Duffill Watts NZ to carry out a traffic study to maximize the capacity and efficiency of passenger and vehicle interaction in the terminal forecourts for the foreseeable future life of the facilities. This task was given to Ali and his team to accomplish. Initially a comprehensive site and traffic survey was conducted at the domestic and Qantas terminal. The local road network was developed in VISSIM for the base year using vehicle identification, traffic composition, route definition and validation. Problem areas were identified and practical solutions were recommended. Then VISSIM microsimulation was used to highlight the improved schemes.
