Grand Indonesia Shopping Town – Jakarta, Indonesia

 Year: 2011-2012

Owner: PT. Grand Indonesia

Tasks: Traffic Impact Assessment Study, VISSIM Micro Simulation, Car Park Improvements

The east mall in this mixed development (GIST) was to be redeveloped to attract more traffic. Prior to this, some 260000 vehicles were attracted to GIST during year 2010. The management targeted the attraction to reach almost half a million after addition and alteration works. Pt. Grand Indonesia appointed TCP Solutions Pte Ltd (TCP) to conduct a traffic impact assessment study for the current traffic conditions and future projected traffic volumes. The study included some short-term solutions to mitigate current traffic congestions at peak periods, and progressively increase the traffic volumes and assess the internal roads to determine if the target vehicles attraction could be met. Practical long-term solutions were to be made for improving roads internally and externally, and the current car parking management. The main challenge with this project was to find solutions for the external roads that were heavily jammed during peak hour causing long delays for the shoppers and hotel guests to leave the area. VISSIM microsimulation was developed for the local road network and problems areas were identified.
